Somebody's Watching You

In a world where lenses are everywhere and someone is always watching, this message returns us to Jesus’ charge from the Sermon on the Mount: you are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Drawing from Matthew 5:1–16, we explore how the Beatitudes shape the heart of a disciple—poor in spirit, comforted in mourning, meek, hungry for righteousness, merciful, pure in heart, peacemaking, and faithful under pressure—and why that inner life must show up in our outer witness. With vivid, everyday pictures—from security cameras in stores and church halls, to the way salt seasons, heals, and preserves—we’re reminded that the world is tasting our testimony and watching our walk. We also visit Acts 5:1–11 and the sobering story of Ananias and Sapphira to learn that God is not fooled by appearances, and that integrity before the Holy Spirit matters when the church is under the world’s gaze.

You’ll hear practical illustrations you won’t forget: trying breakfast without salt, curing meat in a smokehouse, groping through a dark building without a flashlight, and the moon that shines not by its own power but by reflecting the sun—just as believers reflect Christ. There is hope for the hurting and strength for the struggling: weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5). You’ll be encouraged to let your light shine through real good works that point people to the Father, and to believe God for freedom. Watch to be strengthened, challenged, and sent back into your world as salt that has savor and light that cannot be hidden.
