It Is Finished
In this Resurrection Sunday message, we explore Jesus's final declaration from the cross: "It is finished." Drawing from John 19's account of the crucifixion, Pastor Bruce reveals that these words—translated from the Greek "tetelestai"—were actually an accounting term meaning "paid in full." While the Old Testament required annual blood sacrifices for sin, Christ's brutal death served as the final, complete payment for humanity's spiritual debt. Through vivid illustrations of suffering and sacrifice, we're confronted with the extraordinary price Jesus willingly paid for our salvation. The message challenges us to move beyond using Jesus as a temporary "crutch" during difficult times and instead embrace a genuine relationship with Him. As the temple curtain tore from top to bottom at His death, we're reminded that we now have direct access to God through Christ, our High Priest. This Easter, discover afresh what it means that your debt is fully paid and how God's incomparable love invites you into authentic relationship with Him.
