Hebrews Pt 17 "Faith That Pleases God”

Nov 12, 2025    Seth Yancey

Drawing from Hebrews chapter 11, often called the Hall of Faith or Heroes of Faith, the sermon explores how faith is not merely believing something exists, but having concrete evidence and assurance in things hoped for and conviction in things not seen. The message emphasizes that God included this entire chapter so believers would have examples to imitate, people who radically trusted God even when circumstances seemed impossible.

The sermon moves through the stories of Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Moses, Rahab, and countless others who pleased God through their unwavering faith. The central truth emerges that without faith it is impossible to please God, and those who come to Him must believe that He is and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him. The preacher challenges listeners to exercise their faith like muscles, strengthening it through worship, prayer, and obedience even when the world mocks or circumstances seem dire. Just as Noah built an ark in faith before ever seeing rain, and Rahab clung to the scarlet thread of hope, believers today are called to trust in the blood of Jesus and follow the voice of the Lord regardless of opposition, knowing that God has provided something better through the new covenant in Christ.
