Hebrews Pt 10 I'm No Longer In My Feelings

Sep 3, 2025    Colin Johnson

A powerful message from Hebrews 6 that reminds us our standing with God is anchored in His unchangeable promises, not in the ebb and flow of our emotions. Drawing from Hebrews 6:9–18, this sermon contrasts the book’s sharp warnings with its loving encouragement and shows how God's covenants are secured by His oath, just as He swore to Abraham. Through the Genesis 22 account and the image of hope as "an anchor for the soul," the sermon calls believers to patient endurance: to wait faithfully, to persevere through trials, and to trust that God has not forgotten the work and labor of love done in His name.

Pastor Colin weaves vivid illustrations—athletic practice, family stories, and the testimony of a Romanian pastor who endured imprisonment—to show what steadfast faith looks like in real life. These stories underscore the difference between feeling saved and knowing our status before God: our assurance rests on His covenantal faithfulness, not on how we feel in the moment. We are also reminded that many promises are already declared in Scripture (see Ephesians 1) and that they become life-changing realities when we stay connected to Christ, the true anchor.
